What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey? Discovering that everything on the Web is moving at warp speed and I need classes like this to stay ahead of the students that visit the library daily. My favorite exercise was learning the world of "del.icio.us". I use it daily!
How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals? It's provided great tool to use on the internet super highway.

Were there any take-a-ways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you? It's amazing how many free tools were available to me on the web.

What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept? Everything was easy follow.

If we offered another discovery program like this in the future, would you choose to participate? Yes

How would you describe your learning experience in ONE WORD or in ONE SENTENCE, so we could use your words to promote CSLA learning activities? Covenant and intuitive.

Ebooks are wonderful when you're unable to locate a title on the shelf or it's checked-out, but It's quite a search to to located certain titles under the "Free" accounts.
I love the free audio ebooks which I found through my city public library...but most of the titles are for K-5th grade.

Podcasts are a great tool for student reports. Instead of taking notes on interviewees they can just record them and digitally post them into their assignment. It's also a unique tool for those who hate to type. Podcasts add an educational alternative for idle ears in replacement of music.
I did some research on podcast.net with some Harry Potter sites and linked an RSS feed for a podcast onto my blogger (bloglines)

On Yahoo podcast the Library Channel Video Podcast would not load properly. I only saw the first minute of the video.

This is a site that will continue to grow. Great for learning but has some gruesome thing too. I watch some teenagers burn their parents wooden fence down and then it progressed to the house. I also seen a girl put a plastic bag around her head and look like she was suffocating.
The video I choose shows what happens in the real world MS library.

Library Thing is a great way to keep track of all the books I've read. It was easy to create my list with Amazon.

I set up an account in Zoho writer. I've written 3 articles and it's was very easy. Unfortunately I've been unsuccessful at sending an article from Zoho to my blog :(

idea #21 Create a wiki for a library book club so readers can share thoughts, questions and comments immediately and not wait for weekly or monthly meetings. Students who miss meetings can have opportunity to share as well as shy readers who might not speak-up as well as they "post".

This year we're trying to put together a book club in the school library. This looks like a great tool to support this project.

I really enjoyed "The Ripple Effect" and the helpful list that was at the end of the article. (I'd like to send this on to our school district)
I read many of the articles on library 2.0. Its amazing how much has changed in the past couple years and what is predicted for the internet's future. I've also read and heard many people talk about libraries becoming obsolete in the future...which I disagree with especially at public schools. Many students at our school still don't have computers and the internet in their homes. Our school library is a free place where any student can come to relax from a busy day and read. They can ask for help with homework, use the computers, and navigate the web. I hope this will still be available to my grandkids and all students in the future.

Amazing how many blogs are out there! Technorati search works great when you use the advance search. It took me awhile to find "Advance search" which was above the general search in small letters. (One of my discoveries is...after looking at the computer for hours I think I now need glasses)
Tagging is really important especially when looking for a certain conversation on a certain subject. Spelling helps too!!!

I spent many hours on Craigslist...especially on lists from other countries.
City Guides & Reviews (Yelp) was very interesting...who has that much time to write or read about so many things...amazing!
After reviewing 10 more sites I find that 3 hours have gone by.
Most of the information on these sites are great for current information but I feel many of them are personal opinions and you still need to find reliable sources to support a project.

I set up my bloglines. Very easy to set up but spent many hours subscribing to feeds. Also signed up for a new blog : http://techunited.ning.com/ Library Technicians United!
When I was on Feedser.com I had a hard time linking the feed to my bloglines and I'm still trying to figure out what a widget is?
I believe my next purchase of technology should be an Ipod so I can understand the whole audio concept
As of this morning I had no idea what an "RSS" was...now I have a new wrinkle in my brain. :)

Technology is always great ...WHEN IT WORKS.
I love all the free web site with reliable sources for students. But it seem like every time we really need it... it's as slow as molasses.
Our district this year enlarged the broadband network but any web based program is still slow. Many times it can't handle the volume and knocks our library program off line. We're not allowed to video stream during the day. It's very frustrating.
Especially when you have a class in the library with only 45 minutes for students to complete their assignments and the web pages will not load.

Now that I read this it sounds so negative.

On the positive side of it, technology is great. Digitals camera's are a must but I find that I'm always buying my own technology out of pocket...

Haha. Guess what my computer just gave me the blue screen of death... I guess it was mad at me for writing this! Luckily my genius daughter found it in drafts... and here I am again! Take that computer!!

Mappr : was very interesting but would not load all 6 pictures... At least one loaded. You can find it under a california or placentia search. Now I realize how important the wording on a picture tag is.
Flicker Color pickr : Neat idea but all I could do was view pictures of a certain colors... nothing was usable. What was the point of this site?
Montager : Would only let me do a search (I did my search on Placentia) and only showed me one picture when their were others (1 of 2). I tried to click on other options (e-mail me picture) and nothing worked???

"Flicker" I've entered a photo of an item that is displayed in the Tuffree Library. The program has many steps and it still feels clunky. Not sure if I'm doing everything in the right order. My daughter keeps telling me to play around with it and maybe I'll feel more comfortable after awhile.
It's taken me 2.5 hours to sign-up and enter pictures on Flickr.
Now I have to figure out how to put a picture on here. Oh...There is a picture button on the top! That helped!
